By donating land to a local, regional or national conservation organization, the landowner ensures that its natural habitats are protected in perpetuity. He renounces his property rights and is no longer responsible for paying the taxes associated with this property. The owner can benefit from tax credits and other attractive tax benefits.

Conservation easement

The conservation easement protects land that is physically or ecologically related to a dominant land belonging to a conservation organization.
This option protects the natural environment while maintaining ownership. The easement also offers attractive tax benefits.

You can protect your land in perpetuity through a commitment with the government. Private nature reserve status protects the natural environment of a land in perpetuity, while retaining ownership.

This protection status is the result of an agreement between the owner and the Ministère du Développement durable de l'Environnement et de Lutte contre les changements climatiques du Québec. The signing of this agreement is accompanied by certain tax benefits and allows for the retention of property rights.

Planned donation

The planned donation to a conservation charity is still relatively unknown, but increasingly takes place in financial and estate planning. In the long term, it ensures the sustainability of conservation groups and the sound management of protected natural areas in perpetuity. Governments encourage donations to charities. They provide significant tax benefits in the form of personal tax credits or business deductions.
